Starting a online business is not as difficult as you my think. With some basic computers skills. Most people can start a business on the web. Contained in this document is a closer look at one of the available options and the steps to take when starting a online business.
The main means to earn money on the internet is by selling something. You can either sell your own product if you have one, or someone else's product for a commission.
If you are in the beginning stages of starting a online business. You most likely do not have a product of your own. So I am going to get you started by selling other peoples products.
The first thing you will want to do is find a product to sell. For this I would recommend that you open an account with Click Bank. This is a good place to start and the service is free. Once your account has been confirmed. Do a bit of reading to get the basics.
You will also need to open an account with Google Adwords. This account you will use to advertise the product and also to do keyword research. More on this later. You will need a credit card to open the account and there may be a nominal setup fee. You cannot really go any further without an Adwords account, so don't let the cost throw you.
Once again, when your account is confirmed, do some reading to get to know the service. In brief this is how it works. You place an ad for the product you are selling and select the keywords that would attract customers to your ad. You would bid on the keywords your have chosen and it stands to reason that the more popular the keyword, the higher the bid.
Now let's find a product to sell. I recommend that for starters you find a product on a subject you know something about. Go to the market place in you ClickBank account and do a search on the subject of your choice. Have a look at the commissions paid as well as the conversion factors. I would not go for anything that pays less the $20. Make a list of about 5 to 10 possibilities.
At this point, we need to know if the chosen products can make some money. To do this, you enter the exact product name in the keyword tool in Google Adwords. And let the program suggest keywords.
Now have a look at how many searches there are for that product. Remember that the results given by Google are monthly. You want a minimum of 3000 searches per month. Then you look at the competition. The higher the competition the higher the minimum bid amount is to get on page one. Also, have a look at the estimated required bid.
If someone is searching for say "How to Cook Beef" and this is the title of your product. It would safe to say that someone doing that search wants to know how to cook beef. Therefore, it would be reasonable to expect that for every 100 clicks on your ad at least one sale will be made. Working on a 100% profit margin. At a minimum bid of .10c you would break even with the one sale. All additional sales out the 100 clicks would be pure profit.
What I have explained above does not sound as if you will make a lot of money. But do the above with 20 or 30 different products at $300 plus profit per product per month. Not too bad as a pastime.
Now to the next step. On the same basis as above. Select a few keywords that closely match your product and add them to your list. A point to remember. You do not have to have 1000's of keywords to make the system to work. 5 or 6 well chosen keywords with low bids, is all you need.
Now for the ad. If "How to knit Gloves" for example is the product, then that would be the title. Simple. For the body of the ad, have a look at the competition ads for your keyword. Use the top ones and change them slightly so that your ad is the same but slightly different.
That is all there is to it. Run your ad. Let me warn you though. You need to continually monitor your sales expenses against income made. If you do not do this. The Adwords game can become a very expensive exercise. But if you continually check which keywords and ads are making money and which are not. You should not have any problems when starting a internet business.
