Want to Write An Article? First Choose A Subject!

A blank Word document sits on your computer waiting for your creation. Where to begin? Well, first and foremost you must choose a topic for your article. What to pick? The easiest route is to write about one of your great Passions.

If you write about your Passions, your writing will flow more easily. But more importantly, your enthusiasm will show through. This will affect your reader in a positive way.

Is this important? Absolutely! Editors love writing that shows enthusiasm. You will save research time by writing about a topic you know. Then, your writing becomes easy to accomplish. It is a joy rather than a job.

Sometimes our interest areas are very narrow. If that is your situation, then branch out into areas that are similar. If you know a lot about chemistry, you can perhaps translate this into writing about a health subject or issue. When you do this, you will develop a larger audience for selling your articles. Articles about health can then be narrowed down. Instead of writing about sporting injuries, write on a specific injury and how to treat it. Or if you want to write about nutrition, narrow the topic by writing about nutrition for a specific age group. This will create a ripple effect. Before long you will be able to submit your articles to several magazines, e-zines, and websites. You will be writing about different topics that are related to your original passion.

If you decide to become a freelance writer, then the topic is usually your choice. If, however, you are asked to write about some topic of which you have little or no knowledge, you will need to do the research. Finding information quickly and bringing it all together to write the article can be done by a skilled researcher.

Outsourcing is also an option for creating an article if you are not familiar with the topic. Many businesses exist on the internet that will outsource the writing of the article, or just the research if that's what you are looking for. But be cautious. Make certain the outsource person writes original work without plagiarizing. They should also have good grammar and spelling skills. Your reputation can suffer if you aren't careful.

If you are publishing on the internet, you will find there is seldom an editor available to accept or reject your article. The burden of correct facts and good solid information then falls to you. Keep your article fresh. Make sure the content is correct. And add new information. These things will help develop your good reputation.

For example, everyone knows that dogs need food, water and exercise - so don't write about that! But does everyone with a droopy eared dog understand the need to have those ears checked frequently? Those droopy ears are a good place for ticks to hide and other diseases to develop. Don't wast the time of your reader by only writing about old information. Give them new facts or challenge them with new ideas. They will thank you for that.

Remember - your topic should be one that fills you with Passion. Use your knowledge and Passion to create an article written with lots of enthusiasm. Challenge your readers. Soon, you will find writing and submitting articles not only easy to do, but a joyful part of your life.
