The 1 GMAT Strategy You Need To Know

Many GMAT students mistakenly believe that focusing their study on math is the best strategy to raising their GMAT score.

Sure, if you have a known weakness in math youll need to brush up on your math skills and logic. And yes, the GMAT math is significantly more challenging than the SAT math (more emphasis on logic and structuring the problem rather than on pure calculation).

But at the end of the day, doing well on the VERBAL section is more influential to your total score than if you did equally well on the MATH section--this is ESPECIALLY true in the 700+ range. If you are targeting this score range, you MUST improve your verbal section.

So now you see a discrepancy between the two sections!

If you score 99th percentile in Verbal (49V), and your Quant score is

39M = 57th percentile = Total (730, 96th percentile)

41M = 63th percentile = Total (730, 96th percentile)

43M = 70th percentile = Total (740, 97th percentile)

Notice it does not matter how many correct answers this student can get on quant. In the end, her score is around the same score of 730 whether her math score is 39 or 43. Doing well in Verbal pays off!

Now is the opposite true? What if a student scores extremely well in Quant but mediocre in Verbal?

If you score 99th percentile in Math (51V), and your Verbal score is

30V = 57th percentile = Total (670, 85th percentile)

32V = 65th percentile = Total (690, 88th percentile)

34V = 70th percentile = Total (710, 92nd percentile)

Notice doing extremely well in quant does not guarantee you a good score. In fact, an mediocre score in the 57th percentile for verbal and a perfect quant score only give you a (670, 85th percentile). Doing well in Quant is good, but not as good as doing well in Verbal!

Let me repeat:

Doing well in Quant is good, but not as good as doing well in Verbal!

I can't believe this! A high quant score and average verbal score yields a LOWER score than a high verbal score and an average quant score!

Indeed, the GMAT is biased towards success on the verbal section!!

Why would the GMAT creators do this??

My best guess is just the fact that there is a flood of non-native English speakers from international countries who are taking the GMAT exam. These international students tend to be strong in quant but are less familiar with the idiomatic intricacies of the English language and inductive reasoning. Thus, putting weight on the verbal section can help prevent GMAT scores from going up (which is another trend that has been happening). This is only a guess at best. Nobody but the test makers can say for sure.

But whatever the TRUE reason is, it does NOT matter. What does matter is what this bias in the GMAT means to you. If your verbal abilities are not strong, then you MUST brush up on them.

"OK, I believe you. I need to improve my verbal score. But will studying necessarily improve my score?"

Yes and no. Depends on how you study. There are people who spend 6 months studying and do not see any improvements on their score. And then there are those (including me but also many others, Im sure) who scored in the 70th percentile and then studied for just 2 weeks and scored in the 98th percentile on the real thing.

You need to target your studying. There are 3 sections to the verbal: 1) Sentence Correction 2) Critical Reasoning 3) Reading Comprehension

By far, the easiest way to raise your score quickly is to ACE the Sentence Correction part of the exam. Its easier than you think. While the GMAT test makers have unlimited imagination in making questions for critical reasoning and reading comprehension, they can only test you on sentence correction in so many ways. If you master all possible TYPES of questions on the sentence correction AND VARIATIONS on those concepts, then you can go into the test with CONFIDENCE that you will ace the entire sentence correction part of the exam.

I strongly believe that ANYBODY can master the sentence correction section. You see, the GMAT exam is beatable. You just have to know how to do it without wasting your whole life on the test.

Rekindling a romantic relationship from the past is quite acceptable. Remember those special moments you spent together that you wished would last, sadly all good things come to and end. If most of your relationships did not work out, it is possible that you are still hung up on someone. Wake up from your reverie and take action. Find that person if you have lost contact with them. You have plenty of options nowadays to track them. Exhaust all your resources to get them back.

Once you have located them, it gets tricky. To win back a love, you first need to find out their situation. The best thing to do is to write a letter or get a message to them saying that you were going through some old things and ran across something that reminded you of them. Just let them know that you were curious about them and ask what is going on.

Talk about your status. Don't be too obvious about your intentions; make them think you are not that interested. Let them be if they are in a good relationship. Or they could be pretending. Nevertheless, find out what you can about them.

Make an effort to be friends with them if they are not in a relationship. Get closer to them but don't push hard or you might ruin a good thing.

If you have been in close contact with each other, tell them they can call you anytime they want if they need to talk to someone and give your number. Not asking for their phone number takes the pressure off things. If they want to call you, then they will drop hints.

Before you know it, your friendship will blossom into something special and you start seeing each other often. There are tell tale signs if you still have feelings for each other. Give it a little time. If things turn out right then there is a possibility that you can get back together.

8 Steps To The Fastest Weight Loss Diet

The fastest weight loss diet consists of following 8 easy steps every day. Here they are...

1 - For the fastest weight loss diet - you need to start out doing it one step at a time.

How can you make improvements in your diet if you don't know what your diet IS? in business, they say that nothing can be improved if it isn't watched. It's true in weight loss too. Start a simple food diary. Write down everything you eat and drink and in a few days you will have a solid jumping off point to make improvements.

Then start cutting back on the bad foods and implementing more healthy foods.

Next in our quest for the fastest weight loss diet is exercise. Stop groaning, I don't like it either, but you have to do it. Start off (one day at a time) easy. Maybe 10 - 15 minutes of low intensity walking. Than as you get in better shape, increase the intensity and duration. Start adding in other exercises and so on...

2 - Your fastest weight loss diet will be successful or not based on one thing. Whether you stick to it or not! It's far easier if you enjoy what you are doing, so pick foods and exercise activities that you like.

Check the glycemic index chart and find foods that are a better option than what you are now eating, but that you still like! There's tons of tasty options and any time you can switch one food for a lower ranking one, even if it's only a couple points difference...you are making progress.

Hate stomach crunches with a passion? Does the thought of another mind numbing jog bring you to tears? Make your exercising FUN! Try dancing around the house! (No not just dancing, I mean DANCING!) Grab the kids and make a contest out of who can dance the wildest! You'll feel like a fool but you'll all be rolling on the floor laughing before it's over. Try tennis, anything...just get moving.

3 - In addition to aerobic type exercise, to really boost your fastest weight loss diet into overdrive, start to build and tone your muscles.

To lose weight, we want to burn off more calories than we take in...pound for pound, muscle burns more calories than fat! Plus, you get a nice added bonus - muscle burns calories even when not being used. You could lose weight while sleeping or watching TV! Add some weight training into your daily routine and you will really speed up your metabolism. You'll look and feel better and it will be easier to stay that way.

4 - Your body needs carbohydrates for energy. They get digested and turned into glucose - which is the "blood sugar" you keep hearing about. But, excess carbohydrates don't get burned, they get stored as fat. So, in your fastest weight loss diet you need to cut back. Substitute foods lower on the glycemic foods index and you will do fine.

5 - One of the biggest problems with people carrying through with their fastest weight loss diet is goal setting. Either they don't set a goal at all, which is a disaster, or they make their goals unrealistic. Either way is a killer. Choose goals you know you can attain and make them measurable by setting deadlines. Set short term AND long term goals.

In making lifestyle changes, it's not a contest. The size of the goal is far less important than the ability to stick with it. After all, it's better to comfortably lose a pound a week for a year, than it is to starve yourself and lose ten pounds in a week, then give up and regain it all, plus 15 more pounds to boot!

6 - To reach a successful conclusion to your fastest weight loss diet, you need to cut out all the "empty calorie" foods. Candy, soft drinks, pastries are bad for you. It's beyond the range of this article to get into explanations why, but they are far worse than you might ever imagine! And not just because they make you fat. That's the least of it.

The bonus here is that by cutting out all these fat inducing empty calories, most of us will start to see dramatic weight loss without doing anything more!

7 - To lose weight on the fastest weight loss diet, you have to eat. Not only that, you must have a good breakfast. It's this that will trigger your metabolism and speed it up throughout the day. Go without and your metabolism slows way down and when you finally DO eat, your body thinks it has been in starvation and will still keep your metabolism at the low point. It stores the food as fat rather than using it as energy.

Most of your daily calories should be consumed as early as possible. No more midnight snacks.

8 - Heaven forbid that I should ever accuse our mothers of leading us astray, but they did. You've all heard it, "Clean your plate!" For success on the fastest weight loss diet, you've got to leave some behind. Portion control may be a challenge at first, but with practice it becomes automatic. Just like overeating did. Control the amount of and what goes into your body and weight loss will be no problem.

Start working these tips into your life...one day at a time...and you'll soon realize that it really IS the fastest weight loss diet. Not just because of the weight loss, but because it stays off.

Background On Finger Pulse Oximeter Units And Which Pulse Oximeters For Sale Are The Best

A Pulse oximeter is a unit that monitors oxygenation of blood by measuring the percentage of haemoglobin saturated with O2. It is attached to the finger or ear lobe and measures the blood flow past a computerized probe in the meter. A sound or graph is usually displayed to show each pulse beat.

Two wavelengths, 650nm & 805nm are normally used as the light source that is emitted from the probe that is absorbed by the haemoglobin in the blood. The amount of saturation is indicative of the oxygenation in the blood. If blood flow is slow, there may be problems in the functioning of the pulse oximeter.

There are several situations where a pulse oximeter may not be accurate. Vasoconstriction and Venous congestion may have negative affects on the readings. Random things such as bright overhead lights and nail varnish have been known to cause false readings. Also, the presence of carbo-xyhamoglobin (methaemglobin) can cause mis-readings due to the fact that pulse oximeters can't distinguish between different types of haemoglobin.

In procedures requiring anaesthesia, pulse oximeters are put to use in monitoring oxygenation in blood as well as pulse rates. During situations of intensive care such as mechanical ventilation, pulse oximeters have been successfully used in the detection of oxygenation related problems before they manifest. Oximetry can also be used to analyze the efficiency of oxygen therapy.

A pulse oximeter is used to monitor oxygenation. However, it cannot measure the metabolism of oxygen. For oxygen metabolism, you must measure carbon dioxide levels.

Pilots flying in a non-pressurized airplanes use portable pulse oximeters to measure the amount of supplemental oxygen that is required, if required. In situations where oxygen levels may decrease, such as high altitudes and vigorous exercise, portable pulse oximeters have been very useful. People like mountain climbers and professional athletes have utilized these portable oximeters for this purpose.

Pulse oximeter applications have increased and data obtained from them has been used to create new uses. Blood volume loss is one such new realization of the capabilities of a pulse oximeter. An algorithm has been devised over eyars of experimentation which makes use of blood oxygenation and haemoglobin absorption levels to yield blood volume measurements.

Household pulse oximeter units can now be found at a variety of places and at prices that normal families can afford. Brand names like Nellcor, Checkmate, and Nonin have finger pulse oximeters for sale like portable oximeter and finger pulse oximeter.

Put An End To TMJ Pain

When incredible temporomandibular jaw (TMJ) pain hits, a lot of people simply learn to live with it, ignoring the pain and discomfort, and simply doing nothing but hope that it will go away for a while. If they're not careful, though, TMJ pain will never go away and whatever is causing the TMJ disorder will only worsen and make them suffer for a longer period of time.

People who are suffering from TMJ pain might not realize that what they're experiencing is a result of TMJ disorder. For some people, the symptoms directly take place in the jaw area, clearly the most obvious location for TMJ pain. But those who experience pain in seemingly unrelated areas like their head, their neck, their shoulders, or even their ears can easily mistake it for something else, with no connection to TMJ disorder whatsoever.

TMJ pain can be eased with a number of different remedies, but the first thing you have to do is identify whether or not you really are suffering from TMJ disorder. The best person to approach in this case is your primary physician, who can recommend doctors who specialize in TMJ. A dentist, an oral surgeon, or an ENT is your best bet.

You can then try various remedies to reduce the pain you're experiencing. Start by applying warm compress to the affected areas, then give these spots a massage as well; help from a physical therapist would be greatly beneficial. Of course, any pain medication can also bring temporary relief to TMJ pain. Don't forget to avoid any type of hard foods or substances; chewing ice is definitely out of the question. Remember to give your mouth and jaws a rest as well, and be aware that clenching your teeth together also aggravates TMJ pain. Your dentist could also fit you with a shield for your teeth to keep you from grinding them in your sleep and affecting the movements of your jaw.

For more severe TMJ pain caused by misaligned teeth or a deterioration of the joint's bone mass, more serious remedies like surgery could put your TMJ disorder right. Such TMJ pain solutions can take a lot of time and money, but they do provide a more final, definite end to your TMJ pain. Clearly, you don't have to live with TMJ pain forever. You just have to figure out what causes it, how severe it is, and what the best type of remedy is that you should turn to.
